Clinton Hill Picked as One of Brooklyn’s Best Nabes

October 5, 2011

Typical Clinton Hill Street

The Fort Greene-Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn can pat itself on the back as it occupies the coveted second spot in The L Magazine’s “Brooklyn Neighborhood Power Ranking.”

Only Greenpoint is a more desirable section of Brooklyn, while Park Slope and Carroll Gardens were ranked in eighth and ninth place, out of a total of forty-eight Brooklyn neighborhoods, Borough Park coming out last.

The magazine claims to have used the “scientific method” to elucidate which residential areas in Brooklyn make the best homes, taking into consideration accessibility, culture, infrastructure, affordability, and the quality of the restaurants. They also say they leaned heavily towards those neighborhoods where they spent the most time.

Oh, and L Magazine did not withhold “second thoughts” from their neighborhood descriptions, saying the following about Clinton Hill:

“The thing about charmingly scuffy brownstones along peaceful tree-lined streets an affordable distance from commercial strips in an only softly gentrified neighborhood, of course, is that at night…”

Presumably then, being the best doesn’t have to mean being the safest.
