Hakeem Jeffries Satisfied with New District Mapping of Brooklyn

March 14, 2012

Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries

Brooklyn Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries is relieved to learn that the new map of the revised congressional districts for New York State retains him as a resident of the district in which he plans to run for congress.

A federal judge released the new map on Tuesday showing one change which affects the district for which Ed Towns is a representative. The new map merges the area into one new district that includes several mostly white neighborhoods such as Brighton Beach in Brooklyn and Howard Beach in Queens.

The new map also keeps Clinton Hill and Fort Greene within the district, unlike the previous district map.
