Designer Bag or Designer Cake?

Nestled quietly on the border between Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill is a boutique bakery which specializes in artistic creations. Heavenly Crumbs, as the bakery is called, recently decided to focus on designer cakes.

Carefully crafted to form objects such as designer bags, popcorn buckets, and foliage, the cakes can take up to three weeks to create. They range in price from $60 to $425.

“Baking is our passion and love,” explains Heavenly Crumbs owner Shannon Pridgen. “We’re delicious, we’re beautiful. And it doesn’t matter if it’s some over-the-top Liberace kind of job or if it’s simple; it’s about work that’s clean and finished.”

She adds: “People bring in the concept; they may have something in their head, and then we flush it out and bring it to life and put our own spin on it.”

Heavenly Crumbs is also known for its other outstanding baked goods, including sweet potato scones, German Chocolate cupcakes and buttermilk biscuits. The boutique prides itself on not sacrificing taste for beauty.

According to the bakery’s website, “beauty does not preclude taste. All our cakes are guaranteed to be rich, moist and delicious.” Heavenly Crumbs also explains: “We set ourselves apart because all the decorations are custom and meticulously crafted from sugar. Personalized service is the cornerstone of our company.”
